Hungary
Hungary.
England and France both cowardly look’d on
When the three cormorants drank Poland’s blood;
And when brave Hungary had freedom won
From Austria’s yoke, the Russ had hardihood
To help to fetter her. Both are now 5
Most righteously punish’d, being forced to bow
To Russ and German, Europe’s deadly bane.
A tithe the blood and the treasure they have spent
In fleets and armies to protect their rights,
And which the course of commerce daily blights, 10
In timely aid to injured nations lent,
Had saved the whole from hateful tyranny,
And made all Europe now completely free.
